Type: Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks dynamic Accounts & Administrative Assistants to sustain its field operation in the southern part of Bangladesh.
The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.
The Project: The USAID Horticulture Project CIP/AVRDC Bangladesh is designed to improve income and nutritional status of 100,000 marginal farmer households living in the southern region of Bangladesh. The project intends to accomplish its goal through varietal selection, innovative seed strategies, improvements in cropping systems and crop management, increased income and nutrition benefits at scale through more effective value chains and institutional arrangements; and new multisectoral and interdisciplinary partnerships. To strengthen potato value chains, the project is initiating a new component on low-cost innovative storage of ware and seed potato to help potato farmers gain better income.
Carry out day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions of project funds.
Control of local expenditures, and monitoring of expenditures in relation to the project budget.
Ensure that organizational standard accounting procedures are followed for all payments to vendors/partners, advance liquidation and timely financial reporting.
Procurement of office assets, equipment and supplies based on organization policy and procurement rules.
Submit cash requests to Dhaka office on a regular basis to ensure financial retain to project operation and prepare Bank reconciliation.
Maintain up to date inventory of Assets.
Provide administrative withhold to all project staff in connection with procurement, office management and logistics.
Supervise the Office attendant and, ensure security and maintenance of the office.
Ensure attendance register for staff and logbooks for motorcycle movement.
Ensure repair and maintenance of motorcycles.
Ensure filing of records and documents.
Coordinate with landlords and other vendors below the field office area.
Verification of the movement of staff and project vehicles.
Conditions: This is a locally recruited position. The employment contract will be for one year, renewable annually depending on performance and availability of funds. CIP prides itself on its collegial and supportive working environment, which allows space for personal and professional growth.
Educational Qualification:
Graduate in commerce where MBA is preferred.
Work Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience in program/project maintain function.
Job Requirement:
Skilled in operating MS Office software.
Written and verbal communication skills both in English & Bangla.
Experience of working for USAID or other donor-funded livelihoods or economic growth projects preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience of working in teams.
Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to preserve a rapid and demanding pace of work.
Salary: 25000-27000
